I was out with a friend and they pointed out that if I want something different to happen, I should do something different. Which is fair.

Trouble is, I keep doing things thinking I’m doing something different, but then after I’ve done them, it dawns on me that in some way or other I’ve merely be doing the same old thing after all and just imagining it was different.

Is this some kind of Kafka trap that emerges with age?

Or is it really this difficult to figure out how to do something different?
